Goldilocks Provo 2016 Race Report

Goldilocks Provo 2016 was a race/ride that I will never forget!  What is Goldilocks…You ask? “Goldilocks is a women only, non competitive, fully supported, bike ride. Whether a seasoned athlete or a beginner, with 20, 40, 60, 80, and 100 mile routes, there is a distance that is ‘just right’ for everyone.”

Goldilocks Provo boasts the best route in Utah! Start in friendly Provo at Utah Lake State Park and ride through the breathtaking orchards of Santaquin, on the shore of Utah Lake, through Goshen Canyon, and around Mona Lake. The route is rural and the views are diverse and gorgeous.

It was back in April when I knew I had to do this ride…It was then that Goldilocks Continue reading

My 9-year-old Moxie Gal

A few weeks ago, my 9-year-old daughter, Sasha, and I completed our first tandem century together. It was a big goal. I’ve done a bunch of solo century rides, but bringing a wee one along for 6 or 7 hours of riding, not to mention pulling her and a 40-pound tandem bike over 100 miles… well… I wasn’t sure we were up for the challenge!

What follows is Sasha’s retelling of our epic adventure.

Wade Franck Memorial Bicycle Ride

There are bad days on bicycles. Bad days like when the wind is in your face, the sun is just too hot, or you bonk real hard. And then there are really bad days on bicycles. Those are the days where you leave for your bike ride and have no idea that by the time you return, your world will look completely different than it did when you put on your jersey, pumped up your tires and rolled out of the driveway.

I had one of those days on August 16, 2015. My boyfriend, Wade Franck, and I were scheduled to compete in the Urban Assault Ride – a bicycle scavenger hunt – that day. He picked me up at my house, loaded my bike on his car, and we joined many friends and acquaintances at the starting line in Downtown Des Moines. Here we are at the start of the race:

We raced through the course, completing obstacles and having a great morning together. It was a really good day – right up until it wasn’t. About half way into the race, we were Continue reading

Just “Du” It & “Tri”: Esprit De She

On May 22, three Moxie Cycling Ambassadors competed in the Esprit De She Duathlon/Triathlon in Lakeville, Minnesota.  The three all brought different perspectives:

Melissa Hunter: The Endurance Racer

Jess Rundlett: The Social Cyclist

Chris Schmit: The Comeback Kid

These are their stories:

Melissa Hunter: The Endurance Racer

Last weekend I rode in two events that, for me, couldn’t have been much different from each other despite their similarities in paper. Both involved Continue reading

Brooke’s Fall Update

BrookePhew!  Summer has a way of disappearing in a flash these days.  Moxie had an incredible spring and summer traveling to cycling, triathlons and running events throughout the country and visiting our valued authorized dealers.  Our early travels brought us to Wisconsin, Arizona, IL, and Utah and we enjoyed saying hello to familiar faces and making new friends.  At this point in the season, after what seems like months on the road, we pause and reflect on the growth of the business and want to express a sincere heartfelt thank you to all of our fans who believe as passionately about pursuing dynamic experiences as we do. Thank you. It’s been a pleasure to get to know you.  Continue reading

Tour of America’s Dairyland

Screen shot 2013-07-08 at 10.34.59 AM

This summer, Moxie has partnered with ToAD to support and encourage women in cycling.  Moxie jerseys are being donated to use as primes for the Women’s Category 3 and Category 4 races.  Our SE Wisconsin sales rep, Jillian, has also set up a tent at several events throughout the series to showcase our unique lines.

ToAD stands for Tour of America’s Dairyland and it’s the nation’s largest amateur and pro-cycling race series, lasting 11-days and drawing hundreds of participants and thousands of spectators.  Cyclists from around the world come to South Eastern Wisconsin to compete for placement, points, primes and the grand prize:  a spot on the podium! Each day of the series is hosted by a different city, with a different on-road course, or “criterion” race featuring men, women and children of all ages and skill levels (beginner to professional).   ToAD is not just for cyclists, though…”it’s a massive neighborhood event”! Days begin at 11am and festivities (children’s races, beer barrel pulls, milk drinking contests, markets, games and more) go on till the main events: The Women’s and Men’s Pro Races.  With speeds averaging 35-40mph and crowds well in excess of 10,000 the atmosphere is exciting!

We caught up with Jillian to share her experience at ToAD.

“It’s been so much fun for me.  Showing up in the morning before the roads are closed off to traffic, setting up my tent with the other vendors and watching the crowds start to trickle in.  Continue reading
