Jess Rundlett | Ankeny, IA

I’m a fifth generation Iowan, Iowa State Fair aficionado, competitive baker, avid cyclist and Iowa enthusiast. One of the things I love most about the great state of Iowa is that I live in the center of almost 1,000 miles of interconnected bike trails. Beyond biking and Iowa, my most favorite thing is red dirt music and road-tripping to Oklahoma to see my favorite bands!PrintNumber of years cycling: 7

Proudest moment on or off the bike: My proudest moment on my bike was when I completed my first RAGBRAI.  After years of riding only partial weeks, I joined the “Every Damn Mile” Club in 2013. It was an incredible feeling of accomplishment, to be rolling down the bluff in to Fort Madison, knowing that I had started in Council Bluffs and pedaled my way across my home state. That hot day in July, I achieved a goal I had dreamed of since I was a child – dipping my front tire in the Mississippi River and hoisting my bike over my head, relishing the sweet success of victory!

Weirdest post-ride craving: Ice cream and/or cheese.

What is your spirit animal? Owl, because I’m wise.

Where to find me rocking Moxie Cycling: You’ll find me rocking Moxie year round on the Central Iowa Trail Network, the Register’s Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI), Tour of the Mississippi River Valley (TOMRV), Pedaler’s Jamboree, Urban Assault Ride, Fat Tire Fun Rides, Sunday Morning Church of the Chain and Sprocket and at Des Moines Bike Month events. If there’s bike fun to be had, I’m probably having it in Moxie!

Next challenge: My next challenge is to ride my bicycle as a way to live and honor my late boyfriend’s memory.  He was killed by a drunk driver while we were competing in an organized bicycle race in August 2015. I ride to inspire other women to find themselves on their bicycles, to remember him and to share our love of cycling.  When I’m not busy turning pedals, I’m advocating to make Iowa a safer place for bicyclists and pedestrians.

Favorite style in the 2016 Spring line: I’m most excited for the T-Back Jersey from the Revolution Collection. I love me some pink and aqua together!  And the Wool Reversible Jacket!  I’ve been waiting for a great jacket like this since I started wearing Moxie in 2013!
